THE IDEA

A curve changes the conversation.

DESIGN FOCUS

Making the island an expressive centerpiece, supported by a restrained working perimeter.

The red stone island defines this kitchen's character. Rounded ends contrast with the straight perimeter fronts, while a lit base visually separates the volume from the floor. Fluted timber side walls frame the scene and add another material rhythm.

Project status
Design developed during the collaboration with Gintarini. According to Francisco Serrano Hess, construction took place after his departure; this page presents the design and does not document the final built result.
Role
Participation in kitchen design during his time at Gintarini.

MATERIAL / THE DESIGN

See it.
Feel it.

  • Red stone

Pale veins over a deep-colored island surface.

  • Taupe fronts

    Smooth, understated cabinetry.

  • Fluted timber

    Side surfaces framing the kitchen.

01

A rounded center.

The curved outline gives the island the presence of an independent object. A continuous edge follows the gesture of its ends.

02

A base of light.

Lighting below draws a separation between stone and floor. The volume retains its visual weight while shadow adds depth.

03

A quiet perimeter.

The sink and appliances are concentrated at the rear. Two circular sconces and under-cabinet lighting echo the island's curves.
