THE IDEA

Stone above. Earth below.

Duna combines an ellipse of travertine with two crescents of weathering steel. The top gains thickness and the supports become bolder: curved surfaces, visible edges and a patina ranging from rust to deep brown. The central void keeps the piece open, even with its mineral presence.

Project status
A 2026 design concept. Proposed materials and dimensions; technical development and prototyping are pending.
Role
An exploration of form, materiality, proportion and conceptual representation.
Credits
Concept developed for Sada Hess. AI-generated visualizations and sketches; proportion study prepared for this proposal.

MATERIAL / PROPOSED PALETTE

See it.
Feel it.

140 × 85 × 34 cm

Width × depth × height · proposed dimensions

  • Light travertine

Honed top with a proposed thickness of 6 cm; visible pores and grain.

  • Weathering steel

Two curved supports with a stabilized rust patina to be developed.

  • Open shadow

The crescents are offset, leaving the center open.

01

An ellipse with weight.

The thick top and softened edge bring Duna close to a small piece of landscape. Its form can be approached from every side without imposing a single front.

02

Two curves, two directions.

The opposing supports are offset. From each angle, the weathering steel shifts from a dark line to a broad, textured surface.

03

Rust as a finish.

Weathering steel introduces earthy tones that relate to the travertine. Development of the piece will address patina stabilization and protection where the supports meet the floor.
